Programs

Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling

U.S. News & World Report ranks The University of Scranton’s Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program among the top 50 of all programs in the nation. Our program was ranked #49 in the nation in its 2025-2026 "Best Graduate Schools" guidebook.

Students graduating from the program may take the National Certification Exam for Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) and/or the National Counselor Exam (NCE) - both of which are a step toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in most states.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The MS in clinical mental health counseling is suited for those looking to work in mental health agencies, college counseling centers, and substance abuse and eating disorder treatment centers.

Our program is one of just a few programs in the nation to have its own counselor training center.

Throughout the program, you will work with a faculty mentor who will assist with your personal academic planning.

School Counseling

You'll gain the knowledge and experience necessary to become a certified Pre-K-12 school counselor and have the opportunity to pursue additional credentials, such as the National Certified Counselor (NCC), National Certified School Counselor (NCSC), and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

You'll engage in fieldwork through faculty-supervised practicum and internship experiences.

"I am most grateful to my professors who have shaped me, challenged me, and provided me with the opportunity not only to grow as a professional but to find out who I really am."

– Safia Abulaila, G'15
