Clinical Informaticist:
$77,225/year
As a clinical informaticist, you’d pair daily patient care with responsibilities such as evaluating health data and communication systems. You’d most likely transition into this role from a purely clinical one, such as nurse, doctor, or pharmacist.4
Health Informatics Consultant:
$103,295/year
As a health informatics consultant, you’d oversee your organization’s EMR systems, training staff to use the system and ensuring it meets federal standards. You’d also stay up-to-date on health informatics trends and keep your systems current.5
Medical Informatics Analyst:
$79,614/year
As a medical informatics analyst, you might work in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, or even an insurance company to design and improve clinical information systems. You’d also work to ensure your company meets current federal regulations.6
Nurse Informaticist:
$77,509/year
As a nursing informaticist, you’d work with clinicians to integrate technology into daily care. You would design and implement new EMR systems, develop data policies and standards, and train staff in best practices.7

Program Outcomes: Collaborate With Care
After you complete the Master of Science in Health Informatics, you will be able to:
- Address the data and information needs of healthcare systems in diverse settings through the application of theoretical knowledge of health, informatics, and computational thinking, and an intellectual curiosity and investigation of new informatics tools and technologies.
- Integrate theories, models and tools from business, social, behavioral and information sciences, and user experience for informatics solutions such as for the generation, storage, retrieval, sharing, analysis and use of health data.
- Analyze the legal, risk management, and ethical implications of health informatics issues related to the use of health data, information and knowledge.
- Employ analytic and problem-solving skills to plan for and address healthcare information needs.
- Mitigate safety, confidentiality, and privacy issues pertaining to health information policies, and government regulations and requirements.
- Evaluate the use of existing and emerging health information technologies to support healthcare systems.
