Nursing Practice, DNP: Curriculum

Overview

30 total credits required (online)

The average program duration is 21 months of full-time study. Students who enroll in the program on a part-time basis may take up to six years to complete the program. Full-time students are expected to take two courses (six credits) per semester for five semesters, which includes the summer between the first and second years. The Post-Master’s Leadership DNP includes eight courses that cover topics ranging from biostatistics to organizational change. Courses are taken sequentially and learning is cumulative, building to completion of the scholarly capstone project, which accounts for six credits.

Each student will also complete clinical practice hours related to the scholarly project and/or to advance knowledge in the student’s area of specialization. There are 1,000 total hours required for the program, but advanced nursing practice students will be given credit for the clinical hours completed in their master’s specialty program and will complete additional hours to fulfill the total required.
