Accounting, PhD: Admission Requirements

Application Fee: There is NO fee to apply.

Degree and Minimum GPA: A master’s degree in business with a minimum 3.5 grade-point average
Transcripts: Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
Additional Requirements:
  • Normally, 5-10 years of meaningful practice experience
  • Normally, a recognized professional accounting certification (i.e. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner)
  • Submission of a statement of interest
  • Two Professional References
  • Research proposal (This proposal and instructions will be required after your initial application is reviewed.)  

Transfer Credit

Scranton's PhD in Accounting program does not accept transfer of credits.

International students must also meet the following requirements:
English Proficiency: Students from non-English-speaking countries must take the TOEFL, IELTS or STEP to verify English proficiency
Transcript Evaluation (optional):

Official transcripts translated to English OR a transcript evaluation completed from World Education Service or Educational Credential Evaluators.
