Accounting, PhD: Curriculum

53 TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED

The average program duration is three years of full-time study. The Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting is a 53-credit curriculum including 21 hours of credit in the first year of study, 20 hours of credit in the second year and 12 hours of credit in the final year.

The curriculum begins with a foundational core and continues with more advanced topics before culminating in a dissertation research project and dissertation defense in front of the Scranton University faculty.

Students complete a comprehensive exam after their second year of studies. Once accepted to the program, students complete a minimum of 20 on-campus residencies over a minimum of 3 years, while typically 20-25 hours of time a week outside the on-campus residencies is required to complete the course assignments.
