Speech-Language Pathology, MS: Curriculum

Overview

63-73 TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED

The Speech-Language Pathology degree is offered as a two-year, full-time, graduate program of study. The 63-credit degree program covers four semesters, including two seven-week cycles per semester, for a total of eight program cycles. There is also one eight-week summer session. The eight cycles of academic work are provided in a synchronous remote learning environment with recordings available for students outside the Eastern time zone to participate asynchronously.

The three to six week summer session includes a residency field placement, and the two 14-week field placements are residential. Students will obtain clinical hours in-person, primarily in their place of residence. They also participate in five virtual clinical simulation courses infused throughout the curriculum.

Students who pursue the 63-credit degree are expected to complete the Speech-Language Pathology degree in 21 months, and those who pursue an additional 10-credit healthcare specialization are expected to finish in 24 months.

The 10-credit healthcare specialization is available for students who are interested in working in medical settings across the continuum of care. This specialization includes two intersession sessions provided in a remote learning environment and one additional 10-week residency session for six credit hours.

The graduate program is designed to meet the 2020 Standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC Standards) and the 2023 Standards for Accreditation of Graduate Education Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA Standards).
