Career Outlook: A High-Demand Field Full of Possibilities

As the population ages, demand for speech-language pathologists is expected to increase. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the demand for speech-language pathologists to increase 19% through 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.1 Speech-language pathologists have the unique opportunity to use their degree to work in distinctly different professional settings: education and healthcare.

Whether your passion is to work with PreK-12 students who have communication challenges, or with patients who are struggling with swallowing disorders, you’ll gain the expertise you need through Scranton's master's program. If healthcare is your desired industry, you can customize your degree with an additional 10-credit healthcare specialization to ensure you have the knowledge and skills you need for success.

Students who complete the program are prepared to pass the national examination adopted by ASHA to qualify for state and national credentials that are required for entry into professional practice (e.g., state license, certificate of clinical competence).

CAREER OUTLOOK

Courses with a Focus on Clinical Practice.

The Speech-Language Pathology master's is a hybrid program that offers synchronous remote learning, with asynchronous course options available for students who live outside the Eastern time zone. Field placements and clinical hours are primarily completed in the student’s area of residence, making a speech-language pathology graduate degree attainable wherever you may be.

Program coursework focuses on providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to become competent, culturally-sensitive clinicians who can successfully evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan.
